The Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle was co-designed by US Open Champion Glen Peterson to combine an elongated pickleball paddle shape, with a shorter handle. The purpose of the AMPED OMNI design is to create a larger surface area on the paddle face, to combat the fact that many elongated paddles have smaller sweet-spots. In addition, the AMPED OMNI paddle length and face-size allows players to play with a finger or thumb on the paddle face, without obstructing ball-contact. This style of paddle is particularly well-suited for doubles players who want the control and touch required for quick exchanges around the net. In addition to the AMPED OMNI paddle dimensions, the paddle includes all of the same tech packed into other AMPED paddles like the INVIKTA, S2 and Epic paddle. This includes Selkirk’s X5 core, FiberFlex paddle face, Comfort Grip, EdgeSentry edge guard and more.
If you are looking for an elongated pickleball paddle with a large surface area that is built for control and touch, then opt for the Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle. Check out our detailed Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle review to learn everything you need to know before you buy.
Paddle Face & Edge Guard
The Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle has the same FiberFlex paddle face found in other Selkirk AMPED paddles. FiberFlex is made up of Fiberglass technology that has a spin-enhancing paddle surface for enhanced control and precision. The paddle face also contains an oversized sweet-spot which adds forgiveness to the paddle and makes sure you put away winning shots. The OMNI paddle face is protected by Selkirk’s EdgeSentry edge guard that features a low-profile, lightweight design that is both balanced and durable. This creates a solid paddle that easily absorbs shock and transfers vibration throughout the paddle so that you have a more consistent and soft touch when striking the pickleball.
The Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle is built using the AMPED X5 paddle core. The X5 Core is made from a thick polypropylene polymer that features a larger sweet-spot for consistent and controlled ball-striking. Built into the X5 Core is Vibration Dampening and Torque Suppression that works together to kill vibration in the paddle while giving you superb control even when making off-center hits. In fact, the X5 Core is excellent at combatting the effects of tennis elbow, while torque suppression ensures that you hit the pickleball truly even in windy conditions or when the ball is swerving and moving further back on the court. We absolutely love the touch and feel that the Selkirk AMPED X5 Core paddle gives, and the OMNI paddle feels even better thanks to the oversized, elongated paddle design.
Dimensions & Weight
The Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle is available in two great weight options, both a lightweight option that weighs between 7.2 – 7.6 ounces or a middleweight option that weighs between 7.7 – 8.3 ounces. If you are someone who likes the heavier feel of a paddle when playing powerful shots or blocking at the pickleball net, we’d recommend the middleweight option, or if you prefer a lighter, faster paddle that plays to your reaction speeds, opt for the lightweight option. The AMPED OMNI measures 16.5″ long thanks to its elongated paddle shape and has a paddle width of 7.375″ across the paddle face. While the paddle face is slimmer than some of the other AMPED paddles, like the EPIC and S2, the OMNI has a large hitting surface which is perfect for players who like the blend between and elongated paddle for reach, and a large sweet-spot.
Handle & Grip
The Selkirk AMPED OMNI Pickleball Paddle handle measures 4.25″ long making it one of the shortest paddle handles in the Selkirk paddle lineup. Co-designed with US Open Champion, Glen Peterson, the OMNI handle was designed to be short, to allow more space on the paddle face to allow for great control and a larger sweet spot. The larger paddle face allows players to place a finger or thumb on the paddle face, which makes the AMPED OMNI a great paddle for doubles players or anyone who likes to play a strategic game which involves a lot of close play at the net – in fact, the OMNI plays much like a tennis-table paddle that is perfect for pickleball.
The paddle handle is wrapped in Selkirk’s cushioned grip, which features a perforated surface that is brilliant at drawing moisture away from your palm. The cushioning built into the paddle also provides brilliant hold over the paddle, while ensuring that holding the paddle on-court for sustained periods is easy.
